Hagiyaki pottery is the traditional craft of Yamaguchi Prefecture and is known for its warm colors and soft textures. Another feature of Hagiyaki is its unique appearance, with pieces changing over time and becoming even more sophisticated-looking after years of use through a phenomenon known as the “Seven Transformations of Hagi.”

In the pottery-making experience offered at Koubou Alley, visitors can enjoy getting their hands on some clay as staff members guide them through their first pottery-making experience in a Hagiyaki pottery-making class.
Visitors can also try their hand at painting Yuda Onsen white fox ornaments, an original product of Koubou Alley’s, as well as traditional masks, moneyboxes, and dorei (earthenware bells).
